1 Second Everyday: convert and use external videos

This is how I’m able to use video footage in 1 Second Everyday that was recorded with my DSLR:

  1. Convert video files to *.mkv (H.264, AAC) using a simple GTK+ tool called Transcoder. 1SE doesn’t support many codecs. Transcoder uses ffmpeg and therefore has multicore support enabled, which comes in handy.Transcoder
  2. Android’s filesystem is a little weird with file properties. Just manually change the clock to the corresponding date at which your video has been recorded.Android time setting
  3. Copy the converted video to your device. I prefer Superbeam Pro and ADB for doing so.
  4. Revert your time & date settings.
  5. Profit!
